The Mac Mini Now Supports Dual Monitors
The Mac Mini is now capable of running dual monitors. This, to me, is huge. It’s a machine that comes in a decent price that developers are used to, while allowing us to keep our dignity and use our own monitors.
A few months ago, I bought a triplehead2go, and I ran 3 20 inch monitors. Then I got greedy, and decided to step it up to 2 26″ screens (the LG W2600 to be exact). Unfortunately, the triplehead2go doesn’t support 2 monitors running at 1920×1200, and my MacBook pro certainly didn’t have dual video cards. The latest round of Mac Minis support dual monitors just fine.
AirPort Extreme (802.11n)5
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate)

One FireWire 800 port (up to 800 Mbps)
Five USB 2.0 ports (up to 480 Mbps)
Mini DisplayPort video out
Mini-DVI video out
Combined optical digital

Extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on a DVI or VGA display; up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on a dual-link DVI display using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)

If you were waiting on this like I was, well, buy one… like I did. And before you ask, yes, I did hook up an external 7200 RPM drive.

So, you are using 2 different screeens (not mirrored), one on each output of the mac mini?
Just to be sure!
Rafael – Correct. 2 Monitors, different output. Specifically, I’m using 2x LG W2600H. It’s pretty awesome.
I’m not particularly impressed (truthfully, very disappointed) with the performance. Considering getting a Psystar tower.
Is there any chance that you could elaborate on the performance issues, Jon?
@David: it doesn’t do well when I’m trying to watch a movie (VLC) and use Eclipse + Web Browser at the same time. Unpar/unrar’ing grinds the entire system to a halt. I haven’t used a Mac Pro, so I don’t know if these are general system issues or not.
