Dear Priceline: Seriously, WTF?

Dear Priceline,

You really can’t do better than $680 for a flight from LAX to Vegas? Seriously, why is this the #1 listing? For those of you who aren’t aware, it’s a 1 hour flight that normally costs $60 each way.

I’m sick of looking through chat logs to find an IP geo lookup database.

Now it’s here, possibly forever, or until I stop paying for hosting.

Glad I was able to think of something interesting enough for the digg community to vote up so highly, but I was a little surprised to see that question submission has completely stopped. I’ve been sitting at 388 all weekend.

It was interesting to see traffic spike up to 67K pageviews for the day – it was mostly contained in a period of 5 hours. Also funny to see people try to mess with the server, one person wrote a script to submit the same question in a loop. Clever. I guess when you put up a server in less than 2 hours you forget to deal with that type of thing.

Well, I’m not sure who’s going to be reading this, but if you are, and you are curious about rustyrazorblade.com, here’s the breakdown. I am a web developer with a BS in computer science. What I have to share is a combination of what I’ve learned in school and what I’ve learned developing and optimizing several web sites.

I used to work at Intermix (creators of MySpace) working on grab.com, a site for casual gaming. I left to work at a startup, working on answerbag.com.

I’ll be posting a few tutorials and thoughts to this blog over the next few weeks.
